Women in Recovery

“I Notice…”

Butterflies dancing above the branches

The sun shining through the trees and the flies darting in the beams of sunlight.

Shadows and light

Birds Singing

The spiders webs are sparkling

A buzz past my ear

Swaying trees

A bush that looks like a hand spreading out its fingers

Shadows of birds wing

A fly buzzing past my ear that I would normally brush away but don’t

Tranquil

The sun is warming my back

A sea of green

A small solitary bush in the middle of the pathway

Time to reflect

Life and death sit together Butterfly on a leaf

The green moss around the base of a tree Appreciate life

Natural Wellbeing Project

A group of women from the Nelson Trust attended a 3 month programme as part of their recovery from trauma based addiction

FEEDBACK

“I came to the Natural Wellbeing Project whilst in treatment at Nelson Trust. I firmly believe my experience here helped me complete my time at Nelson Trust and complemented and enhanced the work I did on myself and my addiction.
The project gave me the space both physically and mentally to let the pressure off. To ground myself. To find internal peace. Feel support from the woods and nature as well as the group. And safely feel comfortable to sit in peace with nature and process the work I was doing and find myself in the middle of it all”

“Sharing our gratitude here I felt much more open and able to speak truthfully than I would sat in a room”

“Making time for my own wellbeing has helped me on a journey towards accepting myself and making time to think and feel rather than bury and ignore. I have started to feel joy again”

“It has made me realise how important it is to prioritise spending time in nature. Each week I have left the course feeling better as a result of the time spent in nature and the feeling of held and being part of a such a safe and gentle group”
